Teodor Siminic, Ioana Ardelean, Losonczy Orsolya, What If I Fly, Monica Iacovenco, Popa Gabriel, Asami Watanabe are the winners of AUTOR 2017

93 artists from all over the world took part in the 16th edition of AUTOR Fair, on May 13-14, in Grand Hotel du Boulevard. It was the weekend of discoveries, the weekend of inspiring encounters, the weekend dedicated to all AUTHORS. Seven of the selected artists fascinated the jury and received their admiration as well as the AUTOR Awards –  young creators of awesome jewelry, ready to open new creative horizons.

AAA (Autor Awesome Award), Assamblage Award and ELLE Award.  The highest distinction of this year’s edition was received by Teodor Siminic, a new-entry artist at AUTOR Fair: ”In my collection I tried to  catch small creatures, imaginary insects that cling to the wearer and harden. They find themselves an area and adapt around it”. The award, consisting in an intensive class at one of the most prestigious contemporary jewelry schools in Italy, Florence – Alchimia, was given by Ana Barbu, last year’s winner. A jewelry training offered by Assamblage, the only Romanian jewelry school and a promotion material in ELLE Magazine, the most popular fashion magazine in Romania, ended up one more time in the hands of Teodor Siminic, the new-entry artist who caught the attention of this year’s jury.


Krama Institute Award
Romanian artist Monica Iacovenco won a jewelry training in Krama jewelry Institute, located in Athens, for the collection ”GeoMatrix”, a jewelry series inspired by origins, escapes, destinations.


Athens Jewelry Week Award
Hungary artist Orsolya Losonczy, part of the H6 Collective won the free admission as a designer in  Athens Jewelry Week, the newest event in contemporary jewelry.


Joya Barcelona Award
Asami Watanabe, who came to Bucharest from Hong Kong, is the winner of Joya Barcelona Award, consisting in free participation at Joya Barcelona Fair, one of the most prestigious events in contemporary jewelry.


MyDay-ByDay Award
The prize went to Ioana Ardelean, who will have 7 days of ‘personal exhibition’ in the contemporary Myday-byday jewelry gallery in Rome.


Molecule F Award
What If I Fly Jewelry brand was awarded by Molecule F Romanian concept-store. The artists will recieve promotion on Molecule F platform and Promenada Mall concept-store


Public Choice Award
Like every year, jewelry lovers spoke their mind and chose their favourite: Gabriel Popa was the most popular designer present in AUTOR 2017. His collection was a tribute to the relationship between human and urban spaces. The award brings him on the list for the next year’s AUTOR edition. One lucky voter will receive a jewelry from Gabriel’s collection.

The amazing fashion duo – Ana Morodan, fashion blogger and Maurice Munteanu, fashion editor for ELLE Romania Magazine sellected their favourite artists in AUTOR 2017. This collections recieved the validation of Romania’s most influent fashion icons: Doru Dumitrescu Wearable Sculptures, What If I Fly, Moogu, TertiumNonData/Gulnur Ozdaglar, Andreea Alonso, Horia Câlțea, Daniela Corina Popa, Andreia Popescu, Teodor Siminic, Asami Watanabe, Lucienne Buga.


AUTOR 2017 Conference 
AUTOR 2017 professional conference took place on May 15 and discussed the alternative spaces used for exhibiting jewelry. What are the steps to be taken in order to have your jewelry exhibited in an European Gallery? Why that important? What are the oportunities involved. The conference speakers were: Gaelle Gornut, director of WCC-BF in Belgium, Laura Helena Aureli, Founder of myday-byday gallery in Rome,  Juan Riusech, artist si director Alliage Association, France.

AUTOR, the only South-Eastern European international jewelry fair, will return in with a new edition in 2018.
